Becoming a Police Officer

Thank you for your interest in becoming a Police Officer with the Town of Glastonbury.  The Town's goal is to attract, develop and retain a diverse, well qualified and professional workforce that reflects the high standards of the community. 
 The Town of Glastonbury is currently not accepting applications for the position of Police Officer.  



Recruitment Process
When there is a vacancy, you must complete an Employment Application and submit it prior to the closing date. Once your application is reviewed, you will be notified. The time line will vary based on the position. Time may vary from 3 weeks to 3 months. Candidates are kept abreast of the process along the way.

If you are chosen to continue in the recruitment process, you will be invited to a test process based on the position for which you applied. The test could be an oral panel interview, written, performance, typing exam or a combination. There is not a set way to prepare for a test.  However, for "skilled" tests such as typing, you may practice your typing;  for "knowledge" test, you may consider reviewing material related to the subject; and for other positions, you may go on-line and learn more about the Town of Glastonbury and the services offered.  If you have a conflict with the test date, you may contact the Human Resources Department at 860-652-7501.  However, depending upon the type of test being administered, Human Resources may not be able to accommodate you.

If you are successful in passing the test(s) and you are among the top five (5), your name will be submitted to the department director where the vacancy exist.

After interviewing the 5 candidates submitted, the director will make a recommendation to the Town Manager offering the job to one of the 5 candidates.

A Conditional Job Offer is made to the selected candidate pending successfully passing a physical, drug test, and a background check. If these checks are successful, then a Final Job Offer is made with a start date of employment with the Town of Glastonbury.
